Background

SMEC Charity and Foundation is a volunteer-led welfare organisation working in Pakistan. We started the way most small charities start: a group of people who knew which families in their own neighbourhood were struggling, and who decided that knowing was not enough.

We are deliberately small and deliberately local. We do not run an office in one city and distribute in another. Our volunteers are from the areas they serve, so verification is a conversation rather than a form, and aid arrives in days.

We are not yet a registered organisation. Our application is in progress, and we say so plainly rather than letting anyone assume otherwise. Until it completes, our accountability rests on published costs, verified pledges, and photographic records of every distribution.

Vision

A Pakistan where no family is pushed into destitution by a single bad month — an illness, a lost job, a flood — because a neighbour reached them first.

Mission

We deliver food, education, healthcare and emergency relief to families in Pakistan who have run out of other options. Every rupee is tracked from the donor to the household that receives it.

We work where the need is verified and the distance is short. Our volunteers live in the communities they serve, which means we can confirm a family's circumstances before we commit funds, and we can deliver within days rather than months.

We run six programmes: food distribution, education support, orphan care, medical assistance, emergency relief, and seasonal Ramadan and Qurbani projects. Each one is costed openly, so a donor can see exactly what a given amount buys before giving it.

We publish what we receive and what we spend. An organisation asking for money from people who have little of it owes them that.

Our values

How we decide

  • Amanah

    Money given to us is held in trust, not owned by us. It goes where the donor intended, at the cost we published, or it goes back.

  • Dignity first

    Nobody should have to queue in public, be photographed against their will, or explain their situation to a stranger to receive help. Aid arrives at the home.

  • Verified need

    We confirm circumstances before committing funds. Our volunteers live in the communities they serve, so verification is a conversation, not a form.

  • Published costs

    Every programme cost is on this site before you give, not in a report afterwards. If a supplier price changes, we change the published figure.

  • Local hands

    We work through people who are already there. It is faster, it is cheaper, and it means we are still present after the emergency ends.

  • Say it plainly

    We are not yet registered and we say so. We would rather lose a donation than earn one on a misunderstanding.

Founder & President

Shahzad Gill is the Founder and President of SMEC Charity and Foundation, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged families across Pakistan. With a deep commitment to humanitarian service, he leads initiatives that provide food assistance, educational support for children, medical aid, and emergency relief to those in need.

Under his leadership, SMEC Charity and Foundation has also promoted free technical skills training, empowering individuals with practical skills, employment opportunities, and a brighter future. His vision is to create lasting social impact through transparency, compassion, and community development, ensuring that every donation reaches those who need it most.

    We are not yet registered

    Our application is in progress. Until it completes we hold no registration number and no tax exemption certificate, and we will not claim otherwise.

    In the meantime our accountability rests on what we can show: published programme costs, a reference number for every pledge, verification before any pledge is marked received, and a photographic record of every distribution. If that is not enough for you to give with confidence, we would rather you waited.
