Why it exists
The fee is the obstacle, not the will
A trade is the shortest route out of poverty for a young person in Pakistan with no qualifications. The obstacle is almost never willingness. It is the fee, the tools, and a certificate an employer will actually accept.
The Shehzad Technical Training & Test Center runs that training free of charge. Courses are taught on real equipment by people who work in the industry, on the same plant sites where the work happens, and they end in a practical test rather than a paper certificate.
Safety is the first week, not an afterthought. Every intake begins with site safety, fire response and equipment handling before a trainee is allowed near a machine.
The centre is run alongside Shahzad Mechanical Engineering Contractor, whose crews supply the instructors and the equipment — and, for trainees who finish well, the first job.
Courses offered
Seven trades, taught free of charge
Welding
Arc and gas welding on structural steel and pipe, taken to a practical test.
Pipe fitting
Measuring, cutting, threading and fitting pipework to drawings.
Structure work
Fabrication and erection of steel structures, working to a method statement.
Civil work
Block and brick work, shuttering, and finishing on real building sites.
Loader operator
Wheel-loader handling, load safety and daily machine checks.
Skid steer operator
Skid-steer control in confined space, attachments and safe manoeuvring.
Mobile crane operator
Lifting principles, load charts, signalling and exclusion zones.
